Sign a Petition for Bus Service at Shilshole

With limited parking in the marina and on the street during busy weekends; with high school kids having to walk 1.2 miles to the nearest bus stop in the dark in winter months; and with the city’s growing congestion and expense for parking-more people would like to downsize a vehicle and/or ride a bus if they could get to where they need to go without using a car!

Here’s your chance to show Metro that there is indeed interest for bus service here at Shilshole!  Please stop by Dockside Solutions in the Marina Office building to sign a petition for bus service.

Sound Transit light rail open house in Ballard-February 15

There will be a Sound Transit light rail open house in Ballard on February 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Leif Erikson Lodge, 2245 NW 57th. There will be an opportunity to obtain information, provide input and comment. More information is online at:  https://wsblink.participate.online// The final comment date is March 5, 2018. You can also email comments to wsblink@soundtransit.org.

We’re reminding everyone that it is important to attend if you have opinions on the current design.  It is based on an elevated track along 15th after crossing the Ship Canal on a lift bridge.  An elevated station  similar to what is being built at Northgate is intended for the vicinity of Market Street.  Bring those opinions.  Decisions now will influence the character of Ballard for the next century.

Argosy Christmas Ship

The beach at Golden Gardens Park was filled with people on Saturday to watch the Argosy Christmas ship. There were bonfires in the fire pits, children running along the shoreline, and lots of hot beverages. At sunset, against a crimson sky of broken clouds, the Argosy ship was greeted by lighted boats from Shilshole Bay Marina. The choir’s singing was broadcasted on mega-speakers for twenty minutes. I think this event is a jewel of Seattle’s holiday celebrations.

Bubbles

Published by under Shilshole Neighbors

As I came home to Shilshole today, the sun broke out of the clouds.

I stopped at Golden Gardens for a walk. By the bath-house,  I saw a man standing in front of a 5 gallon bucket.  I heard him tell a passer-by a recipe. The ingredients of the recipe were the following.

  1. 6 cups water.
  2. 1/2 cup blue Dawn dish detergent.
  3. 1/2 cup corn starch.
  4. 1 tbsp. baking powder.
  5. 1 tbsp. glycerin.

After telling the recipe, I watched the man dipped two sticks into the 5 gallon bucket.  He  produced sheer delight to the children around him. (Click on the link below to download and view the video.)
